Trip Details

Ask any local; one of the best things to do when visiting the lovely coastal town of Bodrum is to take a day trip (or two, or several) to the nearby islands by boat. Since 1993, as locals ourselves, we have been offering daily boat trips to Black Island and Orak Island every day of each summer season. Join us on a trip across the turquoise waters, with four stops for swimming and exploring at beautiful bays, many or which are only accessible by boat. Our Orak Island trip takes approximately seven hours, with the boat departing every day at 11 am and returning at about 6 pm. This option is the longer of the two trips offered as Orak Island, nicknamed the Maldives of Turkey, lies much further out than Black Island. First stop: Rabbit Bay Rabbit Bay is a gorgeous swimming location further out on the mainland, and we take a half-hour break here from our journey to Orak Island to cool off and have some fun. Contrary to its name, there are no rabbits here, but a lucky traveller may be the first to spot one in a while. Unfortunately, whilst previously inaccessible by car, construction of lofty private villas have begun at the bay so these may be the last few years that travellers freely can visit and enjoy the secret spot. Second stop: Orak Island Tucked behind this privately owned island, this is the spot that reminds one of the Maldives - pale turquoise waters, white sand underfoot, where one can stand at waist-height in the water and enjoy a beverage in hand. Hugely popular, this bay is where we stay the longest and have lunch, which is included in your ticket. Third stop: German Bay A secluded bay where the Germans hid submarines during World War II, German Bay has deep blue waters, and here one can enjoy another dip and go snorkelling. The waters here are deeper, and confident divers can attempt to reach the bottom. We serve slices of watermelon here as a snack during the half-hour break from sailing. Turks love to drink the national drink, rakı, with watermelon, and you can buy a glass of the strong alcoholic beverage from our bar if you wish to get the full experience. Fourth and final stop: Red Bay Tired out from all the fun, many of our guests opt to stay on board and enjoy our service of Turkish tea and biscuits in Red Bay, whilst others dive in yet again - you will be surprised at how the waters call to you again and again under the bright sun. After a final half-hour of rest, we begin our journey back to Bodrum.
